our story
Founded in October 2017, A Center for Hope, Inc. Non-Profit Foundation is dedicated to improving children's and adults' well-being in the 21st Century that is currently living in poverty. The organization assists the community by providing services to increase self-worth, self-sufficiency, economic stability, and impact their overall quality of life.
This charitable foundation focuses on serving children and adults within Sharkey and Issaquena Counties, who live day-to-day without several amenities most people enjoy. Most of these children live in the Mississippi Delta, including Sharkey and Issaquena Counties, which includes Anguilla, Panther Burn, Delta City, Cameta, Nitta Yuma, Rolling Fork, Cary, Mayersville, and Grace. However, A Center for Hope, Inc. Foundation will serve any child and/or adults that travel to enjoy the amenities regardless of where they live.
Executive Director and Founder, Delvery A. Davis Sr., is driven by his passion for this vision and mission. Delvery Sr. saw the need to create a charitable foundation to serve local children, so he developed a strong network of local businesses, Churches, volunteers, and members of the local Alumni Association throughout the area – who all come together to improve the well-being of these children.
By empowering hope for the children in our community, we can impact the everyday experiences of children living in poverty who faces an uncertain future, which allows them to continue believing in the possibility of a better tomorrow.

Meet Delvery A. Davis Jr.
the reason behind our story
A Center for Hope, Inc. Foundation was founded for and inspired by Delvery A. Davis Jr., a child whose parents are from the Mississippi Delta. Delvery Jr. was an amazing child who affectionally impacted the lives of those around him, especially the lives of strangers.
From the time Delvery Jr. was able to walk and talk, whatever he could do to help, he generously gave his time to help fellow classmates, Church members, the elderly, and many more. With such an enormous smile, he helped many never to lose hope and inspired them to reach for the stars. Delvery’s love for people was unmistakable, and his passion for helping others was contagious. He would play several characters while at school and Church; this allowed him to touch the lives of all within his presence and beyond.
Unfortunately, Delvery Jr. tragically lost his own life at the age of 5 due to brain cancer. However, his angelic spirit and contagious devotion to helping others live on through "A Center for Hope, Inc." This 501(c)3 non-profit organization accepts charitable contributions, gifts, donations, planned giving, and philanthropy to local children and adults living in poverty in the Mississippi Delta.
